Our mission
“At Sunny Start Therapies, our mission is to empower parents with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to support their child’s unique developmental journey. We believe that true progress happens when parents feel empowered, capable, and supported in their role. By working together, we create a strong foundation for every child to thrive.”
About Michelle
Hey there! I’m Michelle!
I’m a pediatric occupational therapist with a passion for helping kids and parents thrive. I hold a B.S. in Consumer Health and an M.S. in Occupational Therapy, with experience in special education, inpatient, and outpatient settings. I’m also a certified Early Intervention Specialist in Utah.
One of the things I love most about my work is supporting parents. I’ve seen how overwhelming it can feel when a child struggles to meet developmental milestones, and parents aren’t sure where to start. That’s why my sister Lisa and I founded Sunny Start Therapies—to give parents the tools and confidence they need to help their children succeed.
I’m also a mindfulness advocate and yoga instructor, trained in A Still Quiet Place, Learning to Breathe, trauma-sensitive yoga, and yoga for at-risk youth. Currently, I’m working toward my MBSR certification through Brown University. Staying active helps me stay grounded—whether I’m practicing mindfulness, lifting weights, or enjoying time outdoors.
As a mom to a busy toddler, I know firsthand how hard it can be to balance it all. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, I can relate—and I’m here to help. Let me support you in reducing the overwhelm and building the confidence you need to help your child on their developmental journey.
About Lisa
Hello, I’m Lisa, a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with over 13 years of experience helping children and families. I earned my undergraduate degree from Utah State University and my master’s from Curtin University in Perth, Australia. I’m certified to practice in both Australia and the U.S., and I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings, from multidisciplinary clinics and rehab facilities to schools and private practice.
I specialize in early intervention, working with children from birth to five years old. I am deeply passionate about empowering parents with the tools and strategies they need to support their child’s speech and language development at home. I truly believe that with the right resources, parents can be their child’s greatest teacher and have the most significant impact on their lives.
I am committed to making you feel empowered and supported as you tackle any challenges you may face with your child. As a mother of three, I understand the incredible influence parents and caregivers have and am here to guide you every step of the way.
I look forward to working with you and supporting your family on this exciting journey!
